Our story

A small home with a big heart

La Casita Residential Care is a licensed home for older adults in Glendora, California, built around personal care and attentive supervision in a supportive residential setting. Our family has served this community since 2013.

Carmen Santamaria

Founder and Nurse Practitioner

Before opening La Casita, Carmen spent more than 15 years working in oncology as a Registered Nurse. She learned complex symptom management, and she took part in continuing education as cancer therapies evolved.

Most of what shaped her, though, came from the people. Carmen supported patients and families through long treatment journeys. She learned to advocate for what patients and caregivers needed, to listen for the concerns that go unspoken, and to make sure those concerns and preferences were represented when care decisions were made.

That is the sensibility she brought home. La Casita is a residential care home rather than a medical setting, and Carmen's background shapes how the home listens, plans, and coordinates with the licensed professionals who direct each resident's care.

Where the name comes from

La Casita means the little house.

The name honors Carmen's grandmother's home, which the family called La Casita. It was the kind of house where people were looked after without ceremony, and where everyone knew they belonged.

In 2013, Carmen and her family opened their own home to serve the community, and they carried the name with them. It is still the whole idea: a little house, warm and familiar, where older adults are cared for like family.

The small-home difference

In a home this small, no one is a room number. Everyone is a person we know, in a place that feels like their own.

Open family communication

We keep families informed and welcome, because good care is a partnership with the people who love them.
